A CGPA of 7.5 does not convert to a single universal percentage. Different universities and boards prescribe different official conversion rules, so the correct answer depends on which institution awarded your CGPA. The rule printed on your own university’s marksheet or official notification is always final.

# 7.5 CGPA under common university rules

University / Board Conversion rule 7.5 CGPA equals
CBSE CGPA x 9.5 71.25%
VTU / AKTU-style (CGPA - 0.75) x 10 67.5%
Anna University CGPA x 10 75.0%

These are different rules, not different answers to the same rule. Each institution defines its own formula, so applying the wrong one gives a misleading result.

# Worked example: VTU-style calculation

Using the VTU-style rule on a CGPA of 7.5:

  1. Start with the CGPA: 7.5
  2. Apply the rule: (7.5 - 0.75) x 10
  3. Subtract first: 7.5 - 0.75 = 6.75
  4. Multiply: 6.75 x 10 = 67.5

So (7.5 - 0.75) x 10 = 67.5%.
