# Rock Wool Boards and Blankets: Describe the Shape Before Requesting a Quote
Prepared by the Insulvora Editorial Team.
Contents
A flat board, a flexible blanket and a preformed pipe section describe different geometries. An enquiry that only says “rock wool” leaves the supplier to guess which form is intended.
# A short description for each form
For boards, list length, width, thickness and the specified facing. For blankets, identify the roll dimensions and whether the specification calls for a wired or other surface construction. For pipe sections, provide actual pipe outside diameter, insulation thickness and section length.
# Keep application and evidence together
Add the intended location: wall, roof, equipment or pipework. If the project specifies density or a performance requirement, include the requirement and request information for the offered configuration. Do not treat product form alone as proof of suitability.
# A useful quotation line
Use: item reference; application; material form; dimensions; facing; quantity and unit; required documents. Ask the supplier to mark missing information rather than silently substituting a product. This keeps a board enquiry from becoming a blanket offer that cannot be compared on the same basis.
