# Freeze citations, numbers, and formulas
After an AI detection report, the risky move is a whole-document “humanize” pass that also touches citations, sample sizes, equation blocks, and claim strength. A safer order is to freeze those anchors first, then revise only the flagged continuous prose around them.
Contents
# A practical freeze list
- Citations — in-text keys and the reference list stay verbatim unless you intentionally correct a style error.
- Numbers — quantities, percentages, and statistics you mean to defend stay fixed.
- Formulas — display math and inline symbols are not rewrite targets.
- Claim strength — do not soften or inflate what you actually argued.
# Where HumanPen fits
HumanPen (notes by Charles Li) is a document-level rewriting tool: import a Turnitin or iThenticate AI report (or paste selected paragraphs), and it rewrites only the marked spans while aiming to preserve layout, references, numbers, and formulas. Billing follows rewritten words. Free re-runs on still-flagged spans above a stated product threshold are a workflow description—not a guarantee of any institutional outcome.

# What this is not
This note describes a document-level rewrite workflow for your own writing. It is not a promise of any detector score, institutional outcome, or policy pass. Follow your school or journal rules.
