Your puppy wakes at 5 AM most mornings because their bladder is full, the room got light, or last night’s dinner was late. Fix the cause first: earlier last meal, a final potty trip right before lights-out, and a darker crate. Then mornings get quieter.

A 5 AM wake-up is one of the most common new-owner pains. It rarely means your puppy is “broken.” Try this tonight:

  1. Last meal and water a bit earlier.
  2. One calm potty trip right before bed.
  3. Darker room, boring crate, no play after 9 PM.
  4. If they wake and need to pee, keep it boring — out, potty, straight back in. No cuddles or games.
