# What “nearby hotel pickup” should mean on a Sri Lanka safari booking
“Pickup included” is the most abused phrase on jeep-safari quotes. Sometimes it means your hotel in Tissamaharama or Habarana. Sometimes it means “meet us at the park gate and figure out the tuk yourself.”

# Ask these before you pay
- Pickup from which town / which hotels?
- Pickup time for a 6:00 gate (usually ~5:15 from the park-area hotel)
- Private 4x4 for your group only, or a seat in a shared jeep?
- Park entry + tracker fees included, or jeep-only?
- Water / meals actually on board?
A half-day Udawalawe jeep safari often works with nearby pickup because the park is compact. A Minneriya late-afternoon gathering drive is useless if pickup dumps you at the wrong gate with no tracker arranged.
If you are booking a safari in Sri Lanka from Colombo or overseas, get the pickup town in writing. Go4Safari (Rajagiriya) runs all-inclusive private jeeps with nearby hotel pickup for Yala, Wilpattu, Udawalawe, and Minneriya — that is the product, not a vague “transfer available.”
Nearby pickup is logistics, not a perk. If the quote will not name the town, price the tuk and the risk yourself.
