Entry Trail (EntryTrail) is a development prototype for HTS classification review by licensed U.S. customs brokers. A walkthrough is an opportunity to inspect what the prototype produces and where it remains incomplete. Licensed brokers make every legal determination.
# What to examine during a walkthrough
- The starting document. Ask to see a supported English invoice PDF alongside its extracted description. The broker checks for errors or omissions and confirms the selected article wording before reviewing the classification draft.
- The draft and its evidence. Inspect ranked HTS candidates, reasoning, cited CROSS rulings and validation results. Finding a ruling in retained data does not establish its relevance; the broker assesses the classification argument.
- A correction. Follow an override through the recorded HTS code, error type and root cause. Then ask to reopen the saved review action and inspect what was retained.
- Reviewer identity. The prototype records an entered license ID. Authentication and license verification remain in development, so the entered ID is not proof of licensing.
# Current boundaries
The prototype is not production-ready and does not transmit entries to CBP. Invoice extraction errors, source-viewing gaps and broker-reviewed document validation remain open. Valuation, duties and fees, filing, post-entry monitoring and searchable firm precedents remain in development.
The purpose of these checks is to make the current workflow and its limits visible before a brokerage evaluates it further. The Entry Trail workflow page describes the same review stages and development boundaries.
